The Organization for Tourism and Hospitality Management (OTHM)

OTHM of UK in collaboration with the London South Bank University ( LSBU ) offers professional qualifications in tourism and hospitality management. The organization has already obtained worldwide recognition for good practice. OTHM students have clear access to the LSBU's BA (Hons) Programme in Tourism and Hospitality and their MSc in International Tourism Marketing. The career progression route is diagrammed below:

OTHM PROFESSIONAL CERTIFICATE:

Modules
This six month programme provides knowledge of roles of supply chain in the tourism and hospitality industry. It also gives an indication of the main forces driving the fastest growing industry.

The OTHM professional Certificate consists of following four(4) modules:

1. Introduction to Travel, Tourism and Hospitality

2. Introduction to the Business Environment

3. Introduction to Business Communication and Customer Care

4. Introduction to Business and Finance

*Each module requires 45 hours of classroom teaching.

OTHM PROFESSIONAL DIPLOMA

This one-year programme follows successful completion of the professional certificate course. This level requires thorough study of the roles of industry players and the issues in tourism and hospitality management.

This Level Requires Six Modules:

Part II

4. Tourism and Hospitality Operations Management

OTHM PROFESSIONAL HIGHER DIPLOMA LEADING TO BA (HONS) IN TOURISM AND HOSPITALITY MANAGEMENT

This is also a one-year programme followed by diploma and professional certificate programme or some one with same industry experience at a suitable level in lieu of the qualifications.

BA (Hons) in Strategic Administrative Management
 

The Institute of Administrative Management(IAM) of UK offers Certificate, Diploma and Advanced Diploma leading to BA (Honours) degree.

Administrative Management Career Progression

Learning Aim:

The aim of the programme is to develop an appreciation of the people-management functions within the organisation. It provides a general introduction to the relevance of the systems approach. It also asks candidates to consider administration in its wider organisational context. Candidates are introduced to some of the key concerns of administrative managers within a rapidly changing environment. It also develops candidate’s appreciation of the need to manage information.

Duration: Three years

Entry Criteria:

The Certificate is “open access” to all candidates interested in a starting point for further learning and / or development at work, in the field of administration.

Career Progression & Aspiration:

Candidates having successfully completed the final year could seek promotions in their existing job or switch to a better position in another company. However, fresh graduates could apply for graduate scheme or management trainee position or start a career path.

Professional Accounting-ACCA (The Association of Chartered Certified Accountants)
 

Learning Aim:

The ACCA qualification is a passport to a new world of opportunities for mid-level managers and prospective mid-level managers in accounting, or auditing or for those seeking to further their career prospects by pursuing a postgraduate degree upon successful completion of this qualification. The degree is awarded in two phases - Foundation and Professional level.


Duration: Three (3) Years

Entry Requirements: Must be 18 years of age or over and hold the minimum entry requirements of 2 'A' levels and 3 GCSEs or equivalent. A minimum score of 5.5 in IELTS or 213 in TOEFL and GCSE/ 'O' level or its International Equivalent are required to qualify for the program.

You could gain a fast track to the top in your chosen field either as an employee or as an independent public accountant/ auditor. The work you do will be intellectually demanding and interesting.

  Certified Accounting Technician (CAT)
 

Programme Overview:

The CAT syllabus combines a range of relevant and detailed subject areas designed to test the knowledge, skills and understanding you will need to work in accounting support roles. A full time student must take at least three subjects in a six(6) month semester. The students should pass the papers below to be a qualified CAT.

Entry requirements:

There are no formal academic qualifications to enrol into the programme. If you have no academic qualification, you will be expected to complete all three levels of the Certified Accounting Technician examinations.
