Do I need a student visa (Visa nationnal)?
Overseas Student Application – a guide:

Tier 4 Student visa is a point-based system introduced by British Government. To obtain a student visa, student must score 40 points. A valid Certificate of Acceptance of Study (CAS), formerly visa letter from a licensed college, carries 30 points and the student’s financial status carries 10 points.

To enrol at Brit College, students need to apply to the college by completing an application form.

Step 1: Submitting application

The application form can be downloaded from the web site or collected from the admissions office of the college. Completed application form should be signed and either scanned or photocopied or a hardcopy should be sent to the college with one year’s tuition fees (payable in advance) and the copies of the following documents:
Copy of your passport
Evidence of academic/training certificates
Two Passport size photos

Postal address:
Main Campus
401 Channelsea House (4th Floor)
Canning Road, West Ham
London, E15 3ND

Email address: info@britcollege.org.uk

The application process is simple and students are not required to use an agent.

Step 2: Assessment of the Application
The college will assess student’s suitability on the basis of his/her academic qualifications, level of written and spoken English language, continuation of study and any relevant work experience.

Language assessment is done either face to face assessment or via online Skype interview.

After assessing the applicant, the college may make an offer or suggest an alternative course for the applicant. When a student’s level of English does not meet the entry requirement, the College may recommend a pre-sessional English course before starting the main course.

Step 3: Issuing Certificate of Acceptance of Study (CAS), formerly visa letter
Once the college approves the application and receives the required tuition fee CAS will be sent to the student along with receipt of payment.

The CAS will show student’s personal details, details of the course offered, start and end date and the amount of fees paid and will bear a unique CAS number.

Step 4: Applying for student visa
In order to obtain the student visa, the student will need to submit the CAS to their nearest British High Commission. The student will also need to fulfil all other requirements including producing proof of funds for tuition and living costs in the UK. In some cases a medical certificate may be required.

CAS will count for 30 points towards the 40points.

Proof of finance

After paying one year’s tuition fee to the College, students are required to prove that they have £7,200/00 or equivalent in the local currency in their personal or joint bank account. One year’s estimated living cost in London is £7,200/00.

The money needs to be in the account 28 days prior to submitting visa application.

These funds will be used to pay for student’s food, rent, travel etc once in London. The proof of funds will count for 10 points towards the 40 points requirement.

Students are advised to contact the local British High Commission, UKBA or British Council for visa advice at www.ukba.homeoffice.gov.uk

Wish you best of luck with your application.
